Cub Scouts and the Fun

Ok the debate..
Over the years the Cub Scout and the Boy Scouts have changed wit the times in truth to keep up with the times which is a good thing I would like to believe. I wouldn't think that they would not have been around for a hunder years or more if it wasn't for the fact that they provide a service to kids around he world, But is what they expet for the parents these days more then they have ever in the in the past. When I was a kid I rode my bike to and from most of the meetings and we did things as a pack I don;'t remember my parents showing up at the reguler weekly meeting like the want you to now. I do remember them showing up at te Pack meeting when we got are awards and the big dinners that we had, Now they want the parent to show up with there kid and sit and watch as the kids so there thing for how ever long the meeting takes, Now Yes the meeting are not a babysitting service so you can have some free time to yourself once a week well your kid is doing something with other boy's but then again why isn;t it because can't the parent who is there with there two year old child a distraction to the group of boy's who are tring to learn something or do something with kids his own age isn't it better for you to be able to drop you child off and then do and play/deal with things that you need to do for an hour by yourself. The cub scout are a learning oppertunity for you child in this case you boy to be with kids his own age to learn and do things with out you there. It does come down to prospective on how things are run these days and how much parent should be involded in this group activty. In some case I can see why parents don't want to be a den or pack leader if they are going to have to teach there own kid, because that kid might not listen to yo because your there parent and they don't see the diffrence between you as a parent and you as the leader of the den, so it's always best if you can to trade with someone else to you teach there kids as say a bear and you teach theres as a wolf so you are not the leader of your own child and yes the parents should help out but I think they are putting a little much on parents or forcing them to much to get involded with the kids in this. The parent have to help and teach the kids things in there books at home which is something they should be doing so they know what is going on and are for lack of anythign to say involed in there kids lives, which is something they should expect when they sign there kid up for something like this it's just how much should the parent be involded in it that is the question, because if the parents are doing all the teaching then what is the pack/den forif not a place to drop you kid off for an hour or so to have alittle peace and quite well you deal with the two year old eating the paint chips or the toy cars and slaping the cat around. The cub scouts is a place for your kid to learn soemthing new and be with boy's his own age, to go camping with a group of boy's and to learn things that they wouldnn't normale get in school. To help they get that feeling of acomplishment. I know I did when I was a Cub scout I would, be able to come home every night after a meeting and tell my parents what we did that night, it gave me a chance to talk to my parents about something that I was doing and I get the feeling that, that dosn't happen any more because they want the parents there the whole time so they see everything. There isn't the communication that I had when I was a Cub scout and I do mean the cub scouts The Boy Scout are a completly diffrent Ball of wax and once again a diffrent things to say what they should or shouldn't be doing. anyway back to the Cub scout so the Debate is how much should the parents present be at the Cub scout meeting if they are working with there kids all the time at home to finsh thing off in there books and teaching them things or reviewing them all the time at home. What are they learning at the Den meeting then and are they learning from the den leader if you are always there watching and having to go over it, now that might just be a bad teaching ablitiy on the leader if you have to go over at home again, but shouldn't the parents be able to just drop there kid off talk to the leader for a few mintues to review what they have gone over the past week or so and then head out for an hour come back get and over view from the leader of what they did that night and then go home and talk to there kid to hear what they did untill next week do you really have to sit there the full hour and watch the choas that appear to be infront of you.. once again thing to debate on if the changes to keep up with the times are a good thing or not....
One thing is for sure...
If there is one thing that I have know and do knwo for sure that any kid be a it a girl or boy there is nothing better then to get you kids involded with something like the Cub/Boy/Girl scouts. They will learn time Honored Values and respect for both people and the world around them as well as have some fun with it so in most cases regardless of what you have to do as a parent it's all worth it for your kids because there is nothing more importent in this world then those kids you have and the fun inwhich you kids have doing things like camping fire building climbing up a mountain side are things they will beable to chareise for many years to come and at one point in time beable to pass on to there kids, that is one of the many reason the Boy/Cub scout have lasted for a hundered years the cubs have only been around for eighty years hey but give them time unless the 2012 calander is right well then we have all had it in a few few years, but back to the Cub scout and the fun you kids learn and a little bit into the boy scouts. You as a parent have to make sure of two thing before and at all times and that your kid is having fun if they are or they seem to be just pushing though it then I think it's time for them to stop. In looking for a new picture for tonight I saw a few photo's of some boys that had made eagle Scout the highest level you can make but they had achived very mert bage that was out there. Now to me that isn't having fun it's someone working way to have to get somewhere. Now I can turn that around and say they did it just for the fun of it because they could, so it is a matter of talking to them to see which it was was it either I did it because I thought it would be fun thing to do or was it I need to do this becaue I have to. If its the I need to then I think they should of stopped it was not having fun which is what boy scout is all about. To learn something and have fun while your doing it if you do something because you feel you have to then you are not having any fun and you need to stop unless it's your job and for a kids Boy scouts is not a job it's something they do for fun and to learn.
In the end do it for the kids because that is what it's all about, but the question is how much should we be doing and remember always have Fun that's the point of it all....
