Book Two: Into the street
“I believe we got and eye in the sky.” Warrior pointed up and behind himself “Floating disc with an incredible eye.”
“Really” Opal said and stepped out and she stood next to me. The size difference between the two of us now was outrageous. I must now stood a good foot and 1 half taller then her. She also held a silver mug in her right hand “you sure it’s a disc?’ She turned to look up at me “It’s a simple spell, but not many people have the ability to use it.”
“Mmm…” I hummed out “Well why don’t you get changed and we’ll go and take a look.” I looked down at her “This could be fun.”
“No need to change, I came up with something new a while back. I just need…” Opal turned a looked off to the left side of the window from and yell ‘MAX!!!” I looked up and a large piece of wood was tossed to her. “This old Pal.” And she patted the 4 inch round piece of wood. The piece of lumber was a foot taller then her it was smooth all the way around and up and down it except for the top part of it where pictures of six dragons had been carved in to it.
I looked at the large piece of wood ‘Why are there only six on the staff? I know you’ve taken out more then that.” I asked inquisitively
Opal looked at the staff in her hands and touched the cravings remembering the kill of each of the dragons on the staff “these where the first six.’ She said “Red green, white, blue, chrome and black.” She turned to look up at me “After the black I figured I got all the common and one that is very uncommon I said to myself hey just kill them and let the rumors go as they may.” She looked out the broken window {“Let’s go see what Warriors got shall we.” And for the second time tonight she climbs out of the window.
“Alright let’s see what we got.” I stepped out the window right behind her. When my foot landed on the wooden walkway I slipped a little “Wow Ground.” I had gotten use to floating six inches above the ground I wasn’t quite ready to be walking on sold ground again. I stumbled the first couple of steps trying to get use to it again and getting my feet under me. I walked out in to the dirt covered street to join Warrior and Opal “What do we got?”
“Take a look, just left of the moon.” Warrior pointed up and just off to the left side of the moon, which was still hidden behind cloud cover and appeared to have grown a little dimmer.
Opal and I both looked up to where Warrior was pointing. With the dim light it was hard to make out anything in the night sky. The cloud cover seemed to increase we could barely even see the moon in. The night sky was getting dark and electricity on the air was starting to build up “Shit clouds are getting heavy, looks like rain. Opal…” I looked down at her “…you see anything?”
Opal was still scanning the sky “Hang on a second.” She looked around the darkening sky ‘Eagle eye.” She said to herself and slid her hand down across here eyes “Lets see what we got here.” She looked around the sky again. The cloud cover had grown to the point that the light from the moon no longer shown through “Hard to see now.” Opal said “Lots of electrical discharges flowing through the clouds. That not good.”
“Yeah sounds like a fire later tonight.’ I said “Nice new trick you got make it up yourself?”
“Yes I did.” Opal said “well with the heavy cloud cover and it looking like rain I can’t see what Warrior was looking at, but it doesn’t mean it’s not there. WOW hold for a second.” She focused her attain up to in the sky just off to our right side. She pointed up to the sky straight in front of her ‘Look there, just off to the left.”
